Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are separately working on this idea to beat BJP in 2019. Mail Today reported on Thursday that both AAP and Congress have set up research teams as their “ammunition factory” to take on the BJP with cutting-edge information and sharp analysis of the impact of Modi government’s policy decisions.
Gowda said the focus of the Congress research team is to “compare actual data with claims of BJP leaders.” Similarly, AAP has set up a research team comprising of 30 volunteers from diverse backgrounds. The team is overseen by leaders like Atishi Marlena and MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj. Arjun Joshi, head of AAP research cell, told Mail Today that the team members compile “solid information on where Modi government is slipping”.
The research teams also file heaps of RTI for authentic information.
Social media war
Not just the research cell, Congress has also made a huge bet on social media ahead of the 2019 General Election.
So far, social media outreach has done wonders for the BJP. The Congress aims to beat BJP in this.
Factor Daily reported today that in May this year, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi had handpicked former South Indian actor Ramya to head the party’s social media strategy. She now leads a team of over 40 people for jobs like content creation, research, data sorting etc. As part of the strategy, the team has been successful in ensuring that Rahul Gandhi tweets actively. Ramya told Factor Daily that Rahul has a team for his social media handles and he also tweets.
Reports after Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections said BJP had set up around 9000 WhatsApp groups. Sources told Factors Daily that Congress has bet big on WhatsApp, not Facebook or Twitter. The party has planned to target 3 lakh WhatsApp group by the end of this year.
